LAHORE: The 6th NFC meeting held here today could not become conclusive as issues continued to persist among provinces on resource distribution formula. The meeting will continue for the third day tomorrow.

ISLAMABAD: Negotiations are underway between provinces and federation during the 6th meeting over the 7th National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.
Two new formulas have also come up for discussion, indicating that the meeting may last for a few hours more than expected.

Senior journalist Najeeb Ahmed dies of heart failure

KARACHI: Former president of Karachi Press Club, and senior journalist Najeeb Ahmed died of heart failure here Thursday morning. He was 48.
His funeral prayers will be held at 9 PM at Masjid Ashraf Hashim Ali Khan Road. He will be laid to rest in Model Colony graveyard.
Najeeb Ahmed had been suffering from a heart disease and had underwent a heart operation a few months back.
He suffered a heart attack at 10 AM today...

KARACHI: The total liquid foreign reserves held by the country stood at 13.57 billion dollars, showing a decline of 147.9 million dollars during a week ended Dec 5, State Bank of Pakistan said here on Thursday.
According to break up, the Foreign reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan amounted to 9.93 billion dollars while net foreign reserves held by banks (other than SBP) stood at 3.64 billion dollars.

ISLAMABAD: Co-chairman Pakistan People’s Party and the President Asif Ali Zardari has called Aitzaz Ahsan to meet him here at the Presidency.
